Pediatric Sleep Studies (Polysomnograms)

The child and a parent arrive in the laboratory around 9:30 p.m. There they are met by the sleep technician and introduced to the lab. The monitoring devices are placed on the child as for the adult sleep lab. The child sleeps for at least six hours while being observed 1 on 1 by a technician. The parents are encouraged to stay the night and sleep in an adjoining room.

As for adult studies, the laboratory information is scored by a technologist and reviewed by a pediatric sleep physician. Interpretations and recommendations are provided to the referring physician.
